I’ve not been able to get out and take many photos recently, however last week I was able to get down to a part of East Kent I have passed through on numerous occasions but haven’t really stopped to look around.
After driving round a corner and finding the view above in St Margarets Bay, I tried to get to the South Foreland Lighthouse, on the top of the White Cliffs at Dover. However the Lighthouse was still undergoing renovation and closed, it was also lashing down with rain. Not fancying the two mile walk from the car park, I decided to stay on top of the cliffs looking over Dover. Managing to capture this before the rain decided to bucket down.
I decided to make a hasty retreat up the coast to Deal, a small coastal town north of Dover. The beach is flat and full of fishing boats, huts and a magnificent pier.
I was surprised by the amount of wildflowers in bloom. I just couldn’t resist the shot above.
The cliffs were a real surprise and I will be heading back there in the summer, with better weather hopefully. Deal is a quaint sea town with some great views though it is quiet.
